IEEE RICHARD HAROLD KAUFMANN AWARD
Sponsored by the IEEE Industry Applications Society
“For fundamental contributions to modulation and control of industrial drives.”
Giuseppe Buja is known as Mr. Modulation. It’s a well-deserved title given his fundamental contributions to the field, such as his breakthrough concepts for distorting the modulating wave and optimizing the PWM wave. His research career in power electronics and drives is distinguished by outstanding achievements in numerous areas. In turn, these achievements have brought real technical advances in many commercial industries, from microcomputing for the control of power electronics equipment to electric vehicle powertrain and wireless charging. Buja has always done research with an eye on benefiting humanity. He is now focusing his talents on green energy and, if the past is prologue, we can look forward to significant progress in the field.
An IEEE Life Fellow, Buja (retired) was a Professor at the University of Padova, Padova, Italy.
