2023 IEEE Simon Ramo Medal recipient Azad M. Madni wrote an article featured in Power Electronics News where he discusses the importance of storytelling in the field of engineering.
“Storytelling is an acquired skill that makes complex concepts easy to understand and improves with practice. Effective storytellers understand their audience and craft their stories accordingly. Even great storyteller Steve Jobs failed to replace IBM’s personal computer with Apple’s Lisa. His story conveyed through an 8-page ad in the WSJ, failed to connect. Having learned from that experience, he was on the mark with Pixar’s Toy Story and Apple’s iPod.”
