Katie Hafner is an author and long-time tech journalist who was on staff at The New York Times for more than a decade. She is the author of six non-fiction books, including Where Wizards Stay Up Late: The Origins of the Internet (with Matthew Lyon); the memoir Mother Daughter MeA Romance on Three Legs: Glenn Gould’s Obsessive Quest for the Perfect Piano; and The House at the Bridge: A Story of Modern Germany;  She is the host and co-executive producer of the popular podcast, Lost Women of Science. Her first novel, The Boys, was published in July 2022. She lives in San Francisco with her husband, Bob Wachter.
