Elisa Bertino’s article in Electronic Design takes an in-depth look at a systematic framework for the analysis of cellular-network protocols, involving a 4G LTE example, to enhance security. She notes that securing cellular networks is a challenging task because of their complexity.  A critical prerequisite to securing cellular networks is that the protocols designed, implemented, and deployed in them must be free of vulnerabilities. Due to the complexity of those protocols, systematic methodologies for their analysis are required.
